Battery Charger Tester

When you buy a battery charger, you may not know whether the charger is working or not unless you run a test to find out. Getting the rechargeable batteries and a voltmeter to run a test on the battery charger as just as easy as a piece of cake.

First you have to plug the battery charger to a wall plug. Try to take out any batteries in the charger bank.

Open up your voltmeter and connect the probe according to the plus and minus terminals. Turn the setting switch to the DC volt from highest measuring unit to avoid the overflow to the voltmeter which will spoil the unit.

Use the battery which should come together with the battery charger and test it on the voltmeter. Touch both positive and negative sides of the battery with the voltmeter probes accordingly. Check the reading on the voltmeter, normally you should see standard voltage reading such as 1.4V with the new battery.

Then put in the batteries in the charger bank. Switch on the charger for 20 minutes. Perform the voltmeter reading again on the charged battery. If the voltmeter showing the voltage less than 1.4V, it simply mean the charger is not in the working condition. Else you should be getting the voltage higher than 1.4V which mean the battery is getting power from the charger.

Hey, how is it going? Good stuff. When I store my bike I always use my battery tender. It has saved the life of my battery, in fact I have not changed my battery in six years and my ride starts at a moments notice. Just a trickle charger is not enough you need to use the tecnology of the battery tender.
